Hsinchu Evangelism Center

By Evangelist Sywen Lwo
I started the ministry part-time at Kuan-si in March this year and have been working full-time here since July. In this short period of time, God has already bestowed His marvelous deeds among the people here. This area was like a spiritual desert with only one baptism the year before. With the evangelists’ full involvement, this rocky desert is becoming more like an oasis. Once their indifferent, exclusionary, fearful, doubtful, and self-doubting attitude had been overcome, the Hakka ethic of loyalty, determination, and unity shone through. God’s plan has thus been spread among Catholics and non-Catholics.
With six volunteer teachers, we started a free summer program, which included writing, music, and art classes. One hundred people attended the program weekly and 85% of them are non-Catholic; a catechumen program which has 23 people started in September. About 50 people every week are attending our on-going community activities or workshops, such as fitness programs and physical or psychological health workshops in the parishes. The church door is now opened to welcome the thirty thousand residents of Kuan-si.
God’s beloved servant and generous benefactors, I deeply appreciate your partnership with us. Many here are spiritually thirsty and need our help. Let us journey together in the name of Jesus Christ! May the Lord bless you and your family.
